Crispy Pork Kawali

Description:

INGREDIENTS:

Pork Belly 

Salt 

Pepper 

Soy Sauce 

Oyster Sauce 

Garlic Powder 

Rice 

Rice Wine Vinegar 

Shallots or Red Onions 

Spicy Chili 

 

How To Make:

Prepare rice servings ahead of time. 

For Pork: 

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. 
  2. Cut pork into 2-inch strips. 
  3. Season with salt and pepper. 
  4. Boil pork for 3-5 minutes. 
  5. Heat 2 cups of oil on medium-high heat in a pan. 
  6. Add cooked pork to a mixing bowl and stir in the following: 
    • ½ tsp salt and pepper 
    • 2 tsp oyster sauce 
    • 2 tsp soy sauce 
    • ½ tsp garlic powder 
  7. In an additional bowl, dredge pork in some rice flour. 
  8. Fry pork belly in oil until crispy. Prepare a few at a time. Don’t overcrowd the oil. 
  9. Place pork belly on a plate that is lined with a paper towel before plating. 
  10. Plate with rice and spicy rice wine vinegar. 

 

For Spicy Rice Wine Vinegar: 

  • ½ cup rice wine vinegar 
  • 1 tbsp shallots or red onions 
  • ½ tsp fresh minced garlic 
  • ½ tsp spicy chili 
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
